Fraternity/Sorority Honor Societies

The Order of Omega

The Order of Omega is a national honor society that recognizes those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment.

In order to be considered for membership, candidates must be of junior or senior standing and have a GPA higher than the all-fraternity/sorority average. Only 15 members are inducted annually.

The Order of Omega is an active honor society and meets semi-weekly. Programs coordinated by this organization include the annual Faculty/Staff Appreciation Reception at the College President's home and finals week study breaks.

Gamma Sigma Alpha National Greek Academic Honor Society

Gamma Sigma Alpha was founded to promote intellectual interaction between fraternity/sorority members and the academic community. The purpose of the Society is to promote the advancement of education among fraternity/sorority members; to instill a greater spirit of cooperation among members and organizations and to encourage excellence in scholarship.

The society strives to uphold the high ideals of scholastic achievement, and therefore, only fraternity/sorority members with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) at the start of their junior year or a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in any semester during their junior or senior year are eligible.

Rho Lambda National Leadership Recognition Society for Women

The purpose of Rho Lambda is to honor those women within the sorority community who have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership and service to their fraternal community and their sorority. They are women who have furthered the ideals and principles of the fraternity/sorority community throughout their years of sorority affiliation.

Although membership in Rho Lambda was originally intended for women whose organizations belonged to campus Panhellenics, any sorority woman is now eligible for membership as long as she meets the membership selection criteria, which includes being a sorority member of junior or senior standing with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
