Strategic Plan Initiative Recommendations for 2005-2010
Alcohol and Substance Abuse - Advocate responsible use of alcohol by all members of the college community and refrain from activities that align the image of fraternity/sorority life with excessive alcohol use and/or abuse.
- April 2006 - Submit an application for the North-American Interfraternity Conference Alcohol Summit, to be held in Fall 2006.
- Fall 2008 - Decrease by 1% the percentage of students who perceive alcohol as a core principle of fraternities and sororities.
Community Standards - Establish standards of behavior and ethical practices for all fraternity/sorority members - both individually and in their respective organizations - that reflect the high ideals of friendship, leadership, scholarship, and service.
- Fall 2006 - Raise the required GPA to maintain active status to a 2.3 cumulative.
- Fall 2007 - The Inter-Sorority Association will establish a conduct board.
- Spring 2008 - Establish a fraternity and sorority committee for group review to handle judicial charges.
- Summer 2010 - Send two-thirds representation to a summer leadership institute, such as Undergraduate Inter-Fraternity Institute.
Partnerships - Cultivate external opportunities for connections with other campus constituencies, community agencies, school districts, corporate groups, and others that are mutually beneficial to the fraternity/sorority and campus community.
- Fall 2006 - The Interfraternity Council and Inter-Sorority Association will send an officer and two appointed delegates to attend monthly
- FAIR (For All Interested Residents) community group meetings.
- Spring 2007 - Develop a committee to identify partnership opportunities.
Organizational Development - Promote a programmatic approach at the chapter level. Organizational development will promote both individual members and allow organizations to flourish.
- Fall 2006 - Set-up an interactive recruitment training for all members.
- Spring 2007 - Establish a fraternal new member values institute to be held each semester. All new members will attend this institute.
Personal Development - Provide growth opportunities for all members that will promote excellence in friendship, leadership, scholarship, and service while at the college and throughout life.
- Fall 2006 - Assertiveness training will be provided to fraternity and sorority community.
- Spring 2008 - Produce a pamphlet providing information for upper level juniors and seniors on their role as a lifetime member.
- Spring 2008 - Establish an Alumni Relations Taskforce.
- Fall 2009 - Establish a Fraternity and Sorority Winter Alternative Break.
- Fall 2010 - 10% of each chapter’s membership will participate in the Leadership Certification Program.
Growth - Double the number of fraternity and sorority members on campus.
- Fall 2006 - Establish a task force to organize a public relations campaign.
