A warranty covers the cost of expensive part replacement. While such coverage is important, the average user does not call the vendor for help as often as they call a friend or colleague to solve a software problem or add new items to their machine. And, if they do call a vendor for warranty help, software configuration assistance and upgrades are usually not included in the service.
