Laptop Program for Faculty and Staff

Choosing the Right Computer for Your Needs

As part of the campus Computer Replacement Program, Library and Information Services (LIS) will be offering eligible faculty and staff a choice between a desktop computer and a laptop computer. This offer is made possible because of a significant reduction in laptop costs.

Each faculty member should carefully consider whether he/she would be better served by a desktop or a laptop. Things one might consider are...

  • need/comfort with respect to mobility (office, classroom, travel),
  • screen size, sensitivity of data with which one works, and
  • exposure to risk of theft or other loss.

Upgrades

In general, our Helpdesk staff will contact you when it is time for an upgrade, but you can also contact them if you have any questions (tel. 564-443 / E-mail helpdesk@plattsburgh.edu).

If you select a laptop, the Helpdesk will ask you to read and complete an appropriate form. Please note that the forms are different for academic faculty than for other staff. For more information, please download these forms:
