PowerPoint: Getting Started
When you first launch PowerPoint 2000 to create a new presentation, you'll be presented with a menu offering a few options, from which you'll almost invariably choose the one marked Blank Presentation .
The first option, the AutoContent Wizard will create a variety of wholly pre-fabricated presentations for you, but is not particularly appropriate (and not particularly useful) in an academic environment. It is, nonetheless, interesting to explore a few of the pre-fab templates when you've got an idle hour or two to while away.
The second option, Design Template , is discussed elsewhere on this site, where the question of design templates is addressed.
But, since you're starting a new presentation, the Blank Presentation option is the best choice, as it provides you with an unembellished, un-distracting work area in which you can arrange your thoughts and map out your presentation.
