Introduction to WIDGET
Plattsburgh State's Web Content Management Tool
Widget is the authoring environment and content management tool for Plattsburgh State University's official web pages. Widget stores page content separately from layout elements, making it possible for the college's web site to be flexible - open to mandates for accessible web content and adaptable to design modifications. All official departmental pages that are to be hosted on the official Plattsburgh State web site at www.plattsburgh.edu are created through Widget.
For Plattsburgh State, Widget provides the advantage of permitting the rapid deployment of new web site designs, meeting the needs for accessibility, marketing, and presentation of the college.
For the content creator, the greatest advantage of Widget is that content itself can become the main focus: there is no need to lose time worrying about troublesome formatting or layout issues, as these aspects are handled through the program itself.
The Widget Help pages here provide an overview of how Widget can be used to create and manage a departmental web site, and cover all details from the first logon to the final posting of a finished page.
