Creating a Page

Creating a page is something that you can do as soon as you have a title for the page. Granted, the page won't have anything on it, but you'll be able to create and add the web content and navigation objects at a later time. Alternately, if you already have web content and navigation objects, you can add them to the page right away.

Your first step is to click, in Widget's folder list, on the subweb in which you'd like your page to be located, and then click on the Create Page button.

Once the Create Page button has been clicked, you will be prompted to set a title and path for your new page. The title should be short but expressive of the content the page will hold. In the Path field, you should enter index for the home page for any given subweb, or a short one-word name (without punctuation or spaces) for other pages. For any page but the home page for the subweb, you can leave the Path field blank, and it will automatically be filled in with a name created from what you've entered in the Title field.

After you have entered the required information, clicking on the Create Page button will introduce a page template reflecting the current design of the college's web site, and allowing you to add content and navigation.

Adding Content to a Page

To add content to a page, you should begin by clicking on the Add Content button that appears whenever a page is being edited.

Clicking on the Add Content button introduces a menu of all the web content you've created in the active folder.

To insert one of the listed web content pieces onto your web page, click on the one you'd like and then click the Select button. The content will then be inserted onto your page as illustrated below. Note that if you want to add additional content, you are able to do so. Clicking on the Add Content button above an existing piece of content will add the new content at the top; clicking on the Add Content button below an existing piece of content will add the new content at the bottom.

Adding Navigation to a Page

To add navigation to the page, click on the Add Navigation button.  Just as the Add Content button introduced a list of all content in the active subweb, the Add Navigation button introduces a list of all navigation objects in the active subweb.

Click once on the navigation object you'd like to use, and then click on the Select button to add the navigation object to the page. The final result will show the navigation object in place on the left side of the page assembly window, and the page content objects to the right.

Once you have added web content and navigation objects to a page, Widget will automatically update the page whenever those objects are changed.
