Creating a Subweb
It makes good sense to organize distinct sections of your web site into subwebs. Rather than having a single web folder in which all of your pages, navigation objects, and page content pieces are kept, you can, by creating subwebs, organize your site both for yourself and for visitors to your site.
You can save yourself a good deal of time and effort by planning your site design in advance and creating subwebs in advance of any content, navigation objects, or pages.
Creating a subweb is a simple procedure: on the left side of the screen, click on the folder (or subweb, if you like) that you would like to create the new subweb within, and then, on the right side of the screen, click on the button marked Create Subweb .
A page will appear allowing you to specify a title and a path name for the subweb:
In the Title field, enter a title for the subweb. This title is exclusively for your use--visitors to the site will not see it.
In the Pathname field, enter a "pathname"--a one-word name for the folder (subweb) you are creating. Do not use spaces. This path name will be visible to viewers as part of the URL. Note: if you do not specify a pathname, one will be created for you by stripping spaces and punctuation marks from the words you entered in the Title field.
Once you have created the subweb, it will immediately be visible on the right side of the screen; to make it appear in the listings of subwebs on the left side of the screen, you will have to click on the Refresh Pane button.
