New Microsoft Agreement
The campus has signed a new Microsoft Campus Agreement which will allow us to accelerate migration to the latest version of Office (2003) and to extend work-at-home rights to all faculty/staff, including adjuncts and part-time staff. This contract includes versions for Macintosh as well.
Over winter break, Computing & Media Services (CMS) will be installing Office 2003, including Publisher and FrontPage, in our main lab and most (if not all) smart classrooms and computer-based classrooms. Existing versions of Office 2000 will remain for at least another semester to allow for some transition time and to address compatibility issues. CMS staff have been testing the two versions in the main lab and they seem to coexist nicely.
Migration and upgrades on departmental machines will be optional and done as needed at the user’s convenience. CMS is also working with Instructional Technology to coordinate training classes in support of the new version.
Work-At-Home Licensing
Access to Work-At-Home licenses for faculty and staff is provided by the University of Buffalo's UBMicro operation. There are fees for media and for shipping and NYS and county taxes will be applied. As of December 2005, if one were to order Office Pro 2003 and Frontpage 2003, the total bill would come to $26.94 (if shipped to Clinton County).
While our main license is for Office 2003, some XP and 2002 versions are also available. Macintosh versions are also included.
Faculty and staff members wishing to take advantage of this program should go to:

Prompts on the site will guide you through selecting our campus and your software. Once you have made your selection, you will be asked to fill in shipping and payment information so the site can generate an order form that you will fax or mail to UBMicro. Please be sure to read and perhaps print out the terms and conditions.
