Careers in the Health Sciences
A biology degree provides excellent training for careers in a wide variety of health fields including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy and many others. Recent graduates of the biology department have been accepted into a variety of medical and other professional programs.
To help you in planning for a career in the health sciences, we offer dedicated pre-health advisement. We help you with developing your program of study, provide assistance in seeking out internships and offer support and advice during the MCAT and AMCAS application process so you can make the strongest possible application to medical school.
Medical Technology and Cytotechnology 3+1 degrees
For students interested in degrees that offer immediate employment opportunities after completing the undergraduate degree, the Medical Technology and Cytotechnology “3+1” degrees are excellent choices. Medical technologists carry out diagnostic testing in hospital and research laboratories whereas cytotechnologists are responsible for analyzing tissue and cell specimens for abnormalities such as cancer and viral infections, primarily in a hospital setting.
