About Internships

School of Business & Economics internships are available to students who have completed 57 academic credits and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Academic departments reserve the right to require prerequisite courses for internships.

Transfer students must have completed one semester in the SBE in order to be eligible for an internship.

An internship typically lasts one semester (15 weeks) and academic credit is based on the number of hours a student works.

Academic Internship Credits (15 week semester)

1 credit = 4 work hrs/week = 60 work hours total 4 credits = 16 work hrs/week = 240 work hours total
2 credits = 8 work hrs/week = 120 work hours total 5 credits = 20 work hrs/week = 300 work hours total
3 credits = 12 work hrs/week = 180 work hours total 6 credits = 24 work hrs/week = 360 work hours total

In addition to work hours, interns are also required to complete other deliverables:

  • For 1–2 credits: Either a weekly journal or final reflection report.
  • For 3–4 credits: Both a weekly journal and a final reflection report.
  • For 5 or more credits: A weekly journal, a final reflection report and additional assignments as determined by faculty sponsor.

Grading for internships and co-ops is assigned by the sponsoring faculty member with feedback from the site supervisor.

If adding an internship will result in a course overload (more than 18 credits) you must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and complete the Credit Overload Form.

We urge you to provide feedback on your internship at any time during your experience.

If you wish to apply for an internship you will need to meet with Director of Internships & Career Opportunities. Office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m.–2 p.m. or by appointment.

Please bring a copy of your resume.
