Canadian Studies Scholarships

The Center for the Study of Canada & Institute on Quebec Studies is offering scholarship opportunities to SUNY Plattsburgh students who meet the criteria stated below. The spring 2017 deadline for the submission of scholarship applications is Monday, May 15, 2017. Applications may be dropped-off to the Center for the Study of Canada, 133 Court Street.

Dr. Jeanne H. Kissner Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time undergraduate student
    • Incoming 1st year or transfer student pursuing French and/or Canadian studies
    • Satisfactory GPA
  • Award Amount: Up to $1000

Northern Telecom Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • High school average of 85% or better
    • Canadian studies major at SUNY Plattsburgh
  • Award Amount: Amount equal to in-state tuition 1st year, and to half-tuition years 2–4

Semester Scholarships

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time undergraduate student
    • Canadian studies major or minor
    • Completion of a Canadian studies content course
    • Satisfactory GPA
  • Award Amount: Up to $800

Lucienne Glaubinger Scholars Program

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time SUNY Plattsburgh Student
    • Canadian Studies major
    • Successful completion of two Canadian studies courses
    • Satisfactory GPA
  • Award Amount: $1000 to $2500

The Development Corporation Scholars Program

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time undergraduate student
    • Canadian studies major or minor
    • Completion of two semesters at SUNY Plattsburgh
    • Completion of two Canadian studies content courses
    • Satisfactory GPA
  • Award Amount: $2500

Internship Scholarships

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time undergraduate at SUNY Plattsburgh
    • Familiarity with Canada
    • Develop an internship project
    • 2.8 minimum overall GPA
  • Award Amount: Up to $800

Summer French Immersion Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time undergraduate at SUNY Plattsburgh
    • Canadian studies major or minor
    • Intent to continue studies in French at SUNY Plattsburgh or, if graduating, to continue use of French in the workplace
  • Award Amount: Up to $500

Université de Montréal Summer French Immersion Program

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time undergraduate at SUNY Plattsburgh
    • Pursuing French, Québec, and/or Canadian studies at SUNY Plattsburgh
  • Award Amount: Tuition, room in UdM residence hall, and basic course textbooks

Richard Beach Society for Canadian Art

  • Eligibility
    • Canadian studies major or minor
    • Enrollment in a Canadian art class at SUNY Plattsburgh
    • Satisfactory GPA
  • Award Amount: Up to $250
