Associate Professor of Communication Studies
Christine Johnson joined the faculty in 2004 after working as a producer/director in the TV industry for over fourteen years. She produced live sports programming all over the world first for WWE and then for AOL/Time Warner. Along with producing sports she had several opportunities to produce packages for: The Jay Leno Show, Extra, and the feature film “Ready to Rumble” starring David Arquette and Oliver Platt.
During her tenure, she has produced two video projects in conjunction with the Geology Department that were recognized and distributed to conservatories nationwide.
In the summer of 2015 Christine had the privilege of working with the Les Paul Foundation where she served as the field producer for “The Les Paul 100th Anniversary Celebration” a Red Carpet event at the Hard Rock Café in Time Square. (https://vimeo.com/133774005)
She has served as an adviser to the National Broadcasting Society for 9 years and during that period the students in our department involved in NBS submitted and won over 80 regional and national awards. She also served as the marketing director for the national office of NBS and in 2014 was awarded “National Professional of the Year.”
Throughout Christine’s years at SUNY Plattsburgh she has established a continuing trusted relationship with a variety of recruiters and/or department heads of various national television companies.
She has a hands-on approach to all of her production classes and incorporates industry professionals into the classrooms via Skype to enhance the subjects being discussed and to keep current trends and topics integrated into the classroom experience.
