Minors in Bioinformatics
Bioinformatics is concerned with developing methodology, algorithms and software for processing biological data. This includes analysis of DNA sequence and protein structure prediction. Bioinformatics has helped in identification of genetic roots of some diseases and in developing relevant pharmaceuticals. Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary subject, involving both biology, computer science, and mathematics and statistics. SUNY Plattsburgh offers two versions of the minor: one for biology majors and one for computer science majors.
