Lori Salimando-Porter

Adjunct Lecturer of Music

Lori Salimando-Porter, Trombone, returned home with her husband Joe to Chazy, NY on Lake Champlain after retiring from the United States Military in 2005. She served as Principal Trombonist with the US Military Academy Band, West Point, NY, the US Marine Band, El Toro, CA, and the US Naval Academy Band, Annapolis, MD. Lori has also performed with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, Colorado Springs Symphony, Maryland Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Hudson Valley Symphony, as substitute Lead Trombone with the Miss Saigon Orchestra on Broadway, for four US Presidents and as soloist at the Eastern Trombone Workshop in Washington, DC.  Lori has taught Trombone and Euphonium privately for over 30 years, is currently an Adjunct Trombone Teacher at SUNY Plattsburgh, NY and will also be conducting the Symphonic Band during the 2017-2018 season.  Lori was recently appointed to the faculty at the University of Vermont, Burlington, as an Affiliate Artist of Trombone, Department of Music.  She performs with InoraBrass, Opera Company of Middlebury Orchestra and substitutes with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, VT Chorale Society Orchestra, Adirondack Wind Ensemble, Vermont Chamber Orchestra and Vermont Symphony. Lori received her M.M. from the Catholic University of America in 1987, her B.M. from the Eastman School of Music in 1983 and graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1979.  Lori’s teachers include Dr. John Marcellus, Dr. Terry Cravens, Dr. Bob Wigness, Bud Bentley, Richard Cryder and Joseph Alessi. Lori has been blessed to have Marion Salimando influence her life and Trombone playing.
