Randy Kelley, DNP, RN, CCRN

Assistant Professor of Nursing

Dr. Randy Kelley completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh 1992. In 2007, he returned to school and completed his Masters in Nursing with a Specialization in Education in 2009 from Walden University. Recently, he completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree focusing on leadership and management in 2014 from Walden University. Dr. Kelley comes to SUNY Plattsburgh having taught various nursing courses within the undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Vermont over the past 5 years.

Dr. Kelley has an interest in simulation and completed research on: The Effects of Simulation on Novice PICU Nurse Performance and Anxiety. In 2011, he received an Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award from the Vermont Organization of Nurse Leadership. Dr. Kelley has held positions in: public health, occupational health, quality assurance and policy, management, emergency medicine, travel nursing, critical care transport and continues to work within the pediatric and adult intensive care units at The University of Vermont Medical Center. Dr. Kelley teaches pharmacotherapy and medical surgical clinical nursing courses at Plattsburgh. He has a passion for "sharing" and continues to work per-diem in the intensive care units in an effort to maintain currency and role-model best practices within the classroom and clinical setting. Furthermore, he strongly believes that education is a lifelong journey, one requiring educators to continually adapt; as technology, research, and best-practices evolve.
