RN-to-BS Online Nursing Program Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

If you are currently a registered nurse interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing then you should apply to SUNY Plattsburgh’s RN-to-BS Online Nursing Program. This program allows you to complete your degree on a full- or part-time basis from the convenience of your own home.

In order to be admitted to the RN-to-BS Online Nursing Program you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a graduate of a nursing program that is approved by the legal body that registers nursing programs in the state or Canadian province in which the program is located (Typically a community college or hospital school program)*
  2. Have current licensure as a registered nurse in New York State
  3. Maintained a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA across all institutions attended

* If you have recently graduated from a nursing program and are awaiting results of the licensing examination you may still be eligible for admission. But, in such a case, continuance in the program will be contingent upon successfully passing the licensure examination.

Applying for Admission

You may apply to the nursing program through the SUNY or Common Application (whichever one you prefer). There is no separate application for the nursing program. Instead, as long as you select ‘Nursing RN-to-BS Online Program’ as your intended major on the application, you will be considered for admission to this program.

You must also send official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. Graduates of hospital school programs must send official transcripts from the college through which their prerequisite (i.e. Anatomy & Physiology) credit was earned in addition to their transcript from the hospital school.
