SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury Student Conduct Policy
1) SUNY Adirondack Student Affairs and Security are responsible for student behavior on all SUNY Adirondack property, including the Regional Higher Education Center. The SUNY Adirondack Code of Conduct can be found in the SUNY Adirondack Student Handbook available online at www.sunyacc.edu or in the SUNY Adirondack Student Activities Office.
SUNY Plattsburgh students charged with an infraction of SUNY Adirondack rules will have their cases adjudicated through the SUNY Plattsburgh judicial process. SUNY Adirondack and SUNY Plattsburgh agree to early and full consultation on any judicial cases involving SUNY Plattsburgh students. Cases involving SUNY Plattsburgh students will be reviewed by the Associate Dean of the Branch Campus, who will serve as the branch campus’s judicial officer. The SUNY Plattsburgh decision in these cases will be final. Any branch campus student who is suspended from SUNY Plattsburgh who seeks readmission at any Plattsburgh campus would need to reapply for admission through the SUNY Plattsburgh Admissions Office.
2) Academic Dishonesty
In cases of suspected academic dishonesty, for both Branch and Main Campus courses and Plattsburgh on-line courses taken by branch campus students, the SUNY Plattsburgh policy, as set forth in the Student Code of Conduct Manual, available on-line at: https://web.plattsburgh.edu/studentlife/judicialcharges/conductmanual.php, is in effect with the following procedural changes:
A.) The branch campus faculty member who suspects a student of academic dishonesty will submit the Faculty Report of Suspected Academic Dishonesty Transmittal Form. Directions on how to access the form are available on the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs web site: https://web.plattsburgh.edu/offices/academic/provost/forms.php, to the Branch Campus Dean’s office.
B.) A copy of the report will be sent to the Dean of Students’ Office on the Main Campus to determine if the student has previously violated the Academic Honesty Policy at either campus and for the maintenance of the student’s official conduct record with SUNY Plattsburgh.
C.) If the student denies the allegation of academic dishonesty and requests a hearing, the Branch Campus Associate Dean will hold an Administrative Hearing.
D.) If the student is found responsible through the judicial process for violations of the Academic Honesty Policy, the Dean of the Branch Campus will assign the sanction in consultation with the Dean of the faculty where the course was held or the incident occurred, the Office of the Dean of Students, the Dean of the faculty of the student's major, and the Chief Student Affairs Officer. If the student is found not responsible through the judicial process for violations of the Academic Honesty Policy, the Dean of the Branch Campus will work with the accusing faculty member as needed to assign the earned grade.
E.) At the conclusion of the judicial process a copy of the decision will be forwarded to the Dean of Students’ Office on the Main Campus, where the official records of these cases will reside. A branch campus student who has been found responsible for a violation of the Academic Honesty Policy may appeal the sanction assigned by the Branch Campus Dean to the Plattsburgh Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct Manual, whose decision in these cases is final.
F.) In cases where a SUNY Plattsburgh student is found guilty of plagiarism in a SUNY Adirondack course in which the student is cross-registered, SUNY Adirondack will inform the Dean of the Branch Campus and the Dean of Students on the Main Campus of the sanctions applied against the student.
3) Student Behavior
In cases of alleged student misconduct in the Branch Campus Office suites or disruption of a SUNY Plattsburgh classroom by branch campus students, the SUNY Plattsburgh policies, as set forth in the Student Code of Conduct Manual, available on-line at: https://web.plattsburgh.edu/studentlife/judicialcharges/conductmanual.php, are in effect with the following procedural changes:
A.) The Branch Campus Associate Dean will serve as the branch campus designee for all judicial cases as per the Student Conduct Manual.
B.) If a branch campus student pleads not responsible for an alleged violation of College Policy, that student will be granted an administrative hearing before the Associate Dean of the Branch Campus.
C.) Students may appeal any sanction of suspension or dismissal to the Main Campus Vice President for Student Affairs, as per the Student Code of Conduct Manual, who has the final authority in these cases.
4) In cases where SUNY Plattsburgh believes student behavior off-campus has a sufficient nexus to SUNY Plattsburgh, either the Branch Campus or the Main Campus, SUNY Plattsburgh maintains the right to pursue judicial charges against branch campus students.
5) The SUNY Plattsburgh Student Code of Conduct Manual shall apply to all branch campus students with the above outlined procedural changes. The Dean of the Branch Campus will be kept abreast of revisions to the SUNY Plattsburgh Conduct Manual as appropriate.
