Building Feinberg Library Collections: Information for Faculty
Need a book or DVD for a course? Want to recommend a new journal or digital resource?
- Make your request through your Feinberg Library Liaison.
- Or, contact Gordon Muir, Collection Development Librarian, Feinberg Library.
Books To Support Your Courses
Send your recommendations in any format -- scribbled note, a catalog page, an email, a dog-eared publisher's advertisement. Title and ISBN are the best information to send. Send recommendations any time of year.
The Library's collections support faculty teaching and student learning. Need material specifically for research purposes? Request it through Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad).
Check out E-Journals listing to see if access is available through a database. The process for acquiring a new journal title is relatively long. Purchasing a subscription to a journal involves a commitment of funds over time, so a closer review of each request is needed. Because of budget constraints, new journal titles are added sparingly. We review new journal requests several times a year with new subscriptions beginning in January.
Digital Resources Recommendations
We will set up trials for digital resources. Contact Gordon Muir, Collection Development and Acquisitions Librarian. Recommendations for free digital resources are also welcome. Those recommendations may be incorporated into the online catalog, our Research Guides pages or into our Digital Reference Resouces.
Make your recommendations directly to Gordon Muir. Media costing more than $200 needs to be previewed by you. We'll arrange for the preview, provide you with the preview form and let you know when we are able to order your recommendation. DVDs under $200 are ordered as budget allows.
Rental arrangements are also available, but require a long lead time of about four weeks.
