Isbister will present “From Here to There: The Journey from SUNY Plattsburgh Graduate to Successful Business Owner” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.

Her address is part of the Distinguished Visiting Alumni Program, which brings notable alumni to campus, allowing them to meet with students, faculty, staff, other alumni and community members, sharing ideas, experiences and accomplishments. In doing so, they both showcase and foster SUNY Plattsburgh’s efforts to prepare students for academic, professional and personal success.

A former chemistry major, Isbister is now president of GenMet, a small metal fabrication company in Mequon, Wis. Under her watch, the company has quadrupled revenue, become ISO certified, undergone a lean transformation and been named the 2010 Fabricator of the Year by the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association.

In addition to serving as vice chair of the U.S. Manufacturing Council, which reports to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Isbister has been appointed by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to serve as the chair of that state’s Council for Workforce Investment.

This event is sponsored in collaboration with the Plattsburgh Alumni Association, the Department of Chemistry and the School of Business and Economics.
