PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (March 6, 2014) — Dr. Michael Morgan, dean of education, health and human services, has received the Communication Science and Disorders Outstanding Alumni Award from Wichita State University.

The annual award is presented to alumni who have shown outstanding professional achievement in speech-language pathology and audiology fields.

Morgan, originally from Hutchinson, Kan., earned his B.S. degree in speech-language pathology at Phillips University in Enid, Okla., and his M.A. and Ph.D. in communicative disorders and sciences from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan.

“I am humbled to be selected for the 2014 CSD Outstanding Alumni Award at Wichita State University,” Morgan said.  “I received an excellent education at WSU in addition to great mentoring.”

Morgan teaches graduate classes on voice disorders and supervises all voice assessments in SUNY Plattsburgh’s voice lab. He oversees all programs under education, health and human services including nursing, counseling and teacher education.

“The foundation provided from my time as WSU has allowed me to work closely with members of my academic community for the success of SUNY Plattsburgh's students,” he said.

Morgan is a board member of the SUNY Urban Teacher Education Center, a group that places students in New York City for student teaching.
