India Elections Topic of Next SUNY Plattsburgh Asia Update Series

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (March 31, 2014) — The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of History is sponsoring an evening of talks on the upcoming elections in India Monday, April 14, from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in the Alumni Conference Room, Angell College Center.

“The World’s Most Populous Democracy: Elections in India 2014” will feature talks by professor and chair of the communication department, Dr. Shakuntala Rao, who will address “Media, Election, and the Practices of Democracy.” Dr. Susan Mody, associate professor in gender and women’s studies, will address “Identity Politics in India’s 2014 Elections.

The talks are part of the Asia Update series sponsored by the Asian Studies Committee and are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Connie Shemo, associate professor, history, at 518-564-2739.
