09:12am EST, 18 Dec 2015
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Dec. 18, 2015) — The Winter/Spring 2016 issue of DoNorth, a SUNY Plattsburgh student-produced regional magazine, is now available.
Produced biannually, once per semester, by students in the journalism and public relations department, DoNorth: Touring the Adirondack Coast highlights tourism opportunities in and around Clinton County. Developed originally by the department and the Adirondack Coast Visitor’s Bureau, the magazine has a circulation of around 10,000 and is distributed at various Plattsburgh locations.
DoNorth is also featured in seatbacks on PenAir flights between Boston and Plattsburgh International Airport.
The latest issue, produced under the guidance of faculty advisor Luke Cyphers and student editor-in-chief Winta Matteous, showcases outdoor activities, food, arts, history and events around the Adirondack Coast, from backcountry skiing on Lyon Mountain to local eats and drinks on Mace Chasm Road.
Matteous writes in her letter to the reader, “Many of our staff grew up far from the SUNY Plattsburgh campus—I’m from Sweden—but we found the Adirondack Coast is the perfect jumping off point to learn about not only this great nation but the world.”
“Whatever you decide to explore,” she writes, “with this issue as your guide, you’ll leave the Adirondack Coast as the best version of you.”
Each issue of DoNorth has received praise from the Associated Collegiate Press, and the magazine has twice earned an All American rating. Copies can be found at the Adirondack Coast Visitors Bureau and North Country Chamber of Commerce on Route 9. Call (518) 563-1000 for more information.
