Center for the Study of Canada at SUNY Plattsburgh (CESCA)
Dedicated to promoting and providing comprehensive scholarly professional development programs on Canada to academic, government and business constituents in the United States, the Center for the Study of Canada at State University of New York College at Plattsburgh was established in 1975. It is recognized as a National Resource Center on Canada in partnership with the Canadian–American Center at the University of Maine by receipt of U.S. Department of Education Title VI funding since 1983.
The center is at the forefront of developing innovative Canadian-focused curriculum, research and program initiatives. It is proud to offer the most comprehensive undergraduate Canadian Studies program in the U.S. There is also a rich variety of scholarly outreach programs sponsored and managed by the center including: CONNECT; Fulbright-SUNY Plattsburgh Visiting Research Chair in Canadian Studies; Distinguished Canadian Address & Distinguish Canada–U.S. Address; Center Scholar-in-Residence; Canada Speaker Series; K–12 Initiatives; and Teaching Canada. Given its close proximity to the province of Québec, the center launched the Institute on Québec Studies which offers renown programs such as the Québec Winter Symposium and Québec Summer Seminar.
The center is also excited to be organizing the Youth Ambassadors Program with Canada thanks to support from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, United States Department of State, the United States Embassy Ottawa and Fulbright Canada.
