Professional Workshops

Scope and Focus

CONNECT, in partnership with Canadian Consulate Generals across the United States, convenes two sets of professional development half-day workshops each year. The first set of workshops are held in October-November and the second set are convened in April.

These workshops, exclusively for doctoral candidates, department chairs, graduate student advisers, doctoral thesis advisers and Directors/Deans of international and area studies programs, will feature a rich variety of professional development opportunities available to doctoral candidates interested in the study of Canada.

Workshops examine a wide range of material including Canadian Studies programs and scholarly associations in the U.S., available funding resources to assist with teaching and research on Canada, professional development opportunities to engage in, and a host of Canadian Studies network resource contacts.
