The site of the original Normal School that was opened in 1890, Hawkins Hall is today one of the most distinctive buildings on campus and is worth a tour all to itself.
Located within its walls are a variety of academic programs and classrooms, art galleries, laboratories for computer science, geography, nutrition, and nursing majors, the second largest honors program in the SUNY system, and a major auditorium and recital hall.
In the past, Hawkins has seen generations of teachers walk through its halls. Today, students from all majors on campus assemble to discuss issues in honors courses, attend a faculty lecture, or even watch the Banff Mount Film Festival put on by Expeditionary Studies.
