Feinberg Student Guide

Study Spaces

Feinberg Library spaces are Learning Zones, and so are conducive to studying, researching, and reading. You'll find a range of areas to suit your individual needs. This diversity lets you study alone or in groups, use computing technology or avoid it, find a place for conversation, or enjoy a high level of quiet.

  • Study Areas - levels one and two. Normal conversation.
  • Quiet Area - level three. Whispered conversations.
  • Deep Quiet Area - room behind Reference on level two. Silent zone. No study groups, food, or conversation are allowed. Beverages are allowed. Electronic devices are permitted as long as their use does not produce sound (no noisy keypads, ringers, alerts, etc.).

Some areas of note:

Deep Quiet. Searching for quality quiet time? Find your way to Feinberg's Deep Quiet area, the ideal place to read, study, and think. No talking. No keyboards clicking. No cell phone chatter. Just blissful silence to enhance studious concentration. Find Deep Quiet just off of our second-floor Reference Services area. In Deep Quiet...

  • whisper when you speak
  • turn off your cell phone
  • leave the laptop in your pack
  • enjoy your favorite drink, but no food please
  • think deep thoughts.

The Alcove (second floor) is a flexible computer-equipped work space that enables you collaborate with other students or meet with instructors in the Library.

Our third-floor Reading Room is a quiet place to kick back with your favorite newspaper or magazine.
