Dr. Michele Carpentier
Director of Special Programs at SUNY Plattsburgh
I am a second generation Plattsburgh graduate. My mother graduated from Plattsburgh in the 1950s and I followed her in the 1970’s – the first time! I earned my undergraduate degree in Home Economics Education in 1977.
After my undergrad, I flitted through a wide variety of jobs, until I decided to return to school in the mid 1980's. In my graduate program I earned a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a CAS in School Counseling.
My most recent degree, an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, was earned at the University of Vermont in 2002. And yes, I am still paying off my student loans!

Hobbies/Personal Interests: If it can be done sitting down – I’m there! I quilt, cross stitch, crochet (I was a Home Economics Major) anything crafty. I LOVE rocks and gemstones and collect them. I love going to sites where you can mine for your own beautiful gemstones. I am also a voracious reader – on a good week I can finish three to four books! There just aren’t enough hours in the day for everything that interests me! I am NEVER bored!
