How do I pay for my postage?
Answer: We do not accept cash. We do accept domestic credit cards and Cardinal Cash.

How do I find my new student postal box number or combination?
- Login to MyPlattsburgh.
- Click on the lower case “b” for access to Banner Web (Self Service Banner - SSB)
- Click on Student menu, at the bottom of the page click Housing and Res life.Click the link to housing application. You will see your address information at the top of the screen.
How do I open my mailbox?
Answer: To operate the lock:
- Turn the dial LEFT and stop when the first number is aligned.
- Turn the dial RIGHT, bypass the second number once and stop when the second number is aligned.
- Turn the dial LEFT and stop when the third number is aligned.
- Turn the dial slightly to the RIGHT and pull the door open.
Can I mail packages?
Answer: Yes, but please make sure they are ready to be mailed. We do not supply packing materials.
Do you provide shipping materials?
Answer: No, we do not provide tape, envelopes or boxes. Please make sure your packages are ready to ship when you come in.
Can I buy stamps?
Answer: No, but we have a machine that will print the postage on your envelope, the cost 49 cents each. Remember we do not accept cash.
What if I cannot pick up my package for a few days?
Answer: We will hold your package in the automated locker system for 3 days. After 3 days you will have to pick up your package at our customer service window.
When can I start to send myself packages?
Answer: Space is limited so we ask that you arrange for your packages to arrive no earlier than two weeks prior to your arrival on campus.
How will I know if I have a package?
Answer: You will receive an email. If your package is in a locker you will receive an automated email which will include a pin code. You will need this pin code and your ID badge in order to retrieve your package. If your package is being held at the Student Mail center you will receive an automated email telling you that you have a package and need to go to the Customer Service window for assistance.
How will I know my package has been processed?
Answer: You will receive an email at your Plattsburgh.edu email address from The Student Mail center. This email will direct you to either the customer service window or the intelligent lockers to pick up your package. *Please note: If you use Google Chrome and you group your messages you may only see one message even if you have received more than one package do to the grouping option.
How long after my package arrives on campus can I pick it up?
Answer: That depends of the time of year. During the first few weeks of the semester we receive hundreds of packages daily. During this time, to be on the safe side, you should wait until the following day. When the volume decreases, usually after the first month, your package should be available a few hours after arrival on campus. You will receive an email so please do not call us to find out if your package has arrived, this will only slow down the process of getting your package to you.
Where is the Student Mail Center located?
Answer: Mason Hall. Only access is through back entrance.
What Can't I mail?
Answer: Some things cannot be mailed or can be mailed only in small quantities for safety and legal reasons. Also, some items can jam or damage the mailing machines and can cause serious injury to the Mail Center employees and equipment. The U.S. Postal Service lists the following items:
- Aerosol cans
- Alcoholic beverages
- Drug paraphernalia
- Flammable or explosive materials
- Glass chips
- Illegal or Infectious substances
- Metal pieces
- Lottery tickets
- Paper clips
- Poisonous materials
