How to Get Connected with your Internet Enabled Devices at SUNY Plattsburgh

Instructions for connecting your devices to the campus network (computers, game consoles, TVs, streaming media devices, etc)

If you plug your device in with a network cable (ethernet),

no registration is required! Your device should just work, but if you do have issues please check your network settings to be sure your device is configured for DHCP. Using a cable is the most stable way to connect your device to the Internet and it will provide faster network speeds.

If your device is wireless,

simply connect to "SUNY-Plattsburgh" wireless network and login with your campus NetId and password when prompted. If your device doesn't have this capability or doesn't prompt for a username and password then you will need to manually register your device on the network using the steps below:

  1. Find the MAC address of your device by using the Instructions in the tabs below.
  2. Click on the "Launch Wireless Device Self Registration System" button (below), login with your campus netid and password, then follow the instructions. Note: this step must be done from a computer or mobile device that already has internet connectivity.
  3. Connect your newly registered device to the "SUNY-Guest" wireless network.
  4. You're Finished!

Choose from the available tabs below for assistance finding the MAC address for your specific device. If your device is not listed here, you will likely find the MAC address in your network settings in the device's interface. It may also be called Hardware address. Look for it printed on the bottom of your device as well.
